Drama

Drama is a way of learning and knowing about yourself and others. Drama at Kehoe-France Northshore is based on expressive play which extends to the children’s creative process. This process allows the children to learn how to give dramatic form to their feelings, perceptions, and imaginations. The drama class is an elective that students in fifth through seventh can sign up for in the beginning of school. The class meets once a week for the entire school year. Added afternoon rehearsals are required as the performance date gets closer. Students learn how to prepare for an audition using correct body movement, vocal production and character building. The full production is performed in a large scale theatre off campus with sets, sound, lighting, and costumes rented from New York City. We at Kehoe-France believe that developing the “whole child” is very important. The Drama elective encompasses the performing arts taught since PP2.  If a child can get up in front of an audience; sing, dance, and act, they can do anything. This builds confidence that lasts a lifetime.
